New updated HSE Rider-operated lift trucks L117 (3rd edition 2013)      « Back

Published 30th July 2013 by Zoe Green

Are you aware of the new HSE Regulation for Rider-operated lift trucks, operator training and safe use (L117 3rd Edition 2013)?

The PUWER regulations Section 9 Part 2 states that anyone who supervises users of work equipment MUST have adequate training.

Guidance note 84 states:

"Supervisor training - The HSW Act requires you to provide adequate supervision. It is essential that supervisors have enough training and knowledge to recognise safe and unsafe practices. This does not mean they need full operator training, but they do need to understand the risks involved, and how to or prevent them. Some organisations offer training courses for supervisors and managers of lift-truck operations."

Guidance note 85 states "Supervisors should be able to:

  • Carry out an effective observation and know what to look for;
    • Communicate effectively with operators and line managers;
    • Recognise unsafe practice and behaviour;
    • Maintain and promote health and safety standards."
  • Do you need to be trained as a supervisor then our Fork Lift Tuck Awareness for Supervisors course is for you. Our next course starts 23rd September 2013 £135.00+ VAT per person
